New Modification to Racing Rules Announced
Due to the last few races ending in a yellow/checkered finish, we have amended rule number 6.22 in our Minicup Rule Book.

6.22 Now reads:
If a caution is displayed after the leader takes the white flag, all cars must observe the caution and slow as with any other caution. The race is over at that point. The race finish will be determined by the official lineup from the previous lap. There will be no racing to the checkered flag. Cars involved in the caution will be moved to the rear of the field in the order they scored in the previous lap with the exception of a car deemed by officials to have caused the caution. That car if any, will be placed at the rear of the field. This rule will also apply to any yellow/checkered finish.

This rule will be in effect as of the next race August 16th. If anyone has any further input, please contact Rick Poppert.

Future Star Tyler Luttrull facing a tough fight.

Tyler Luttrull is one of MMRA's youngest racers and competes in the Future Stars of Racing division in Colorado. In mid-July some unusual symptoms caused his family to take him to the doctor. He was diagnosed with brain cancer and the doctors immediately operated to remove it. As of July 24, he is still in Children's Hospital in Denver and his prognosis is good. He is fighting and has a positive attitude but this is a big challenge for an 8 year old.

You can help by sending Tyler get well notes, photos, and anything that can encourage him as he will be spending quite a bit of time in hospitals instead of at the racetrack. A special website has been set up to provide information about Tyler and his progress. On that website, you can sign a guestbook that his family will print out and bring to him each day. Please take a moment to help a fellow racer through a tough time. Visit his web page. Thank you Tony for calling attention to this.

Please send donations to help this family to: First Bank, 8031 Wadsworth Blvd., Arvada, CO 80003. 303-237-5000. Account#4883550354. Checks can be made to Tyler Luttrull.

WSRA shines with two exciting races and top car count
WSRA again provided the top car count with the Minicup Division as well as exciting racing from both divisions for the Madera fans.

The Minicup event showed fans how improved our drivers and crews have become with fast action throughout the 25 lap event, multiple lead changes and an exciting checkered-yellow finish and win by Brentwood's Brent Curran in the number 5.

Manteca's Jake Gomes in the number 16 Baby Grand brought in win number 7 in a row Saturday night before hundreds of families present to celebrate Madera Speedway's "Kids Night". Gomes had spun in lap four in a racing incident allowing Modesto's Michael Ray to lead on the restart. At lap 18, Gomes re-took the lead and went on to win with Ray close behind.

WSRA drivers and teams wish to thank Madera Speedway for a great night of racing and look forward to our next race there August 9th.

Minicup Record Broken at Madera
Track record was broken Saturday night: Minicups - #12 Shane Lawrence 18.028.

WSRA has top car count at Madera race
WSRA produced the top car count for the Summer Open Night at Madera Speedway. Minicups with a field of 16 cars topped the other divisions and put on a great race. Baby Grands put on an exciting show and a possible upset as Jarret Kelly in the number 6 looked like he was going to take this one. A caution and spin in lap 21 proved to be his undoing as Jake Gomes worked his way to the front and took the checkered for win six in six starts. Congratulation to all drivers and teams for a great and safe race!

Minicup Points Throw-away
We apologize for any miscommunication regarding if we will or will not allow a throw-away when calculating the season points total in the Minicup Division. There will be one throw-away allowed this season.

WSRA opened it's season with a bang, participating in the largest motor sports event in Roseville history. NASCAR's Camping World Series came to our local track and kicked off the 2008 season with a spectacular show. Jake Gomes in the number 16 Baby Grand took the checkered flag along with John Bowman in the number 98 Minicup, earning beautiful trophies provided by Bill McAnally Racing, the host of the event. Sponsoring the WSRA races was J&F Pool Plastering. WSRA wishes to thank J&F Pool Plastering for their generous support.

Official Fuel
Effective immediately, WSRA official fuel for Baby Grand and Minicup competition will be Sunoco 98 which can be purchased at Madera and the Roseville tracks as well as Sunoco fuel vendors. Fuel sampling will be incorporated at WSRA events and testing will be conducted as part of the Tech Inspection process.

Rules Update
Rules have be updated with an addition of section "9.7* The highest finisher in year end points who competed in THREE or fewer points races in that division in previous years will be considered the "Rookie of the Year" for that division."

Our Points System
I want to make sure everyone knows how we calculate points. This is a simple system that we have been following for over 2 years.

Points are earned beginning in the A main event with the winner receiving 50 points and each finisher from 2nd on receiving 2 less points in order. In order to receive any points for this event the driver must take the green flag.

Drivers that do not compete in the A main and race the Qualifying race may receive points based on their finish in the Qualifying race beginning with 2 less points from the last place A main competitor being awarded to the first place finisher of the qualifying race on down in order.

If a driver fails to race in either event he or she will earn no points except for the possibility of earning one extra point if they are the official fast qualifier.

Both the tracks and WSRA use MyLaps.com as one source to maintain finishing results for the season. WSRA does not have any control nor any obligation to strictly follow every posting in calculating our series points, as at times some information such as DQs or loss of position penalties are not updated by the tracks.

The points that are posted on our website are correct and will undergo an audit to ensure math accuracy before final season results are posted.
